Amazon has introduced Alexa+, a significant upgrade to the standard Alexa voice assistant, now available in early access. This new version, powered by generative AI, promises a more natural, conversational experience. Amazon describes Alexa+ as "more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." This enhancement aims to make interactions smoother and more intuitive, allowing users to manage a variety of tasks effortlessly, from completing to-do lists and finding calendar details to booking restaurant reservations.
Currently, Alexa+ is in its Early Access phase, exclusively available on certain Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or are considering purchasing one of these models, you can sign up for notifications about when Early Access will be available by following the link below. After the Early Access period, Alexa+ will become a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, or available for a monthly subscription of $19.99 for non-Prime users.

With Alexa+, you can engage in a more natural dialogue, asking questions or requesting assistance as thoughts arise. Amazon continues to add new features regularly, ensuring that Alexa+ evolves and improves over time. More detailed information about these enhancements will be shared post the Early Access phase.
However, not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices, including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen, will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to more devices soon, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com.
