Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release
Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement aims to further refine and polish the game based on player feedback.
The game's journey to release has been marked by delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While Ubisoft initially cited the "best interest of the game," later reports suggested concerns regarding historical and cultural accuracy within the game's development.
This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, stated that Ubisoft is dedicated to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial time for refinement and polishing.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest shift, the shorter delay may mitigate potential player frustration.
The delay may also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus. This initiative, coupled with recent financial setbacks, could explain the decision to prioritize player feedback and ensure a higher quality product. Delaying the game to incorporate this feedback aligns with Ubisoft's commitment to a more "player-centric" approach.
