Where Llamas Live
Llamas are found in specific biomes:
- Savannas: These warm biomes, characterized by yellow grass and acacia trees, are prime llama habitats. They often share these areas with horses and donkeys.
- Windswept Hills and Forests: While less common, llamas also graze in these areas, usually in herds of 4-6, ideal for creating caravans.
- Wandering Trader Caravans: Llamas are always part of a wandering trader's entourage.
Appearance and Features
Llamas appear in four main colors: white, gray, brown, and beige. They are neutral mobs, only attacking if provoked, but they will defend themselves by spitting at attackers, such as zombies. 
Ways to Use Llamas
Llamas are excellent pack animals. Attaching a chest significantly increases your carrying capacity, crucial for exploration. Forming a llama caravan further amplifies this benefit. 
They also offer a degree of protection, deterring some mobs with their spitting ability. Finally, you can customize their appearance with carpets.
How to Tame a Llama
Taming a llama involves a simple process:
Step 1: Finding
Locate llamas in savanna or mountainous biomes. They often travel in groups, increasing your chances of taming multiple llamas at once. 
Step 2: Mounting
Approach a llama and right-click (or use the equivalent action button on your platform). The llama will buck you off repeatedly. Persist until hearts appear above it, signifying a successful taming. 
Step 3: Using a Lead
While not rideable, llamas can be led with a lead. Attaching a lead to one tamed llama will cause nearby llamas to follow, creating a caravan. 
How to Attach a Chest to a Llama
Simply interact with the llama while holding a chest. The chest's inventory size is random (up to 15 slots) and cannot be removed. To access the chest, hold Shift and interact with the llama. 
Caravan formation is straightforward: attach a lead to one llama, and others within 10 blocks will join, up to a maximum of 10 llamas. 
How to Put a Carpet on a Llama
Right-click on a llama while holding a carpet to customize its appearance. Each carpet color creates a unique pattern.
