Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, renowned for his roles in games like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and many others, was discovered in a dire state last week. Found "barely alive" in his hotel room, his family has reached out to fans, seeking support during this challenging time.
According to PC Gamer, Johnson's wife, Kim, along with other family members, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his medical expenses and bills while he is unable to work. The page poignantly states, "Right now, Wes continues to battle for his life in an intensive care unit."
Johnson had committed to hosting a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation in Atlanta scheduled for January 22. After arriving and checking into his hotel, concerns arose when he failed to appear at the event. His wife, Kim, made frantic efforts to contact him, leading to hotel security entering his room to find him unconscious and barely clinging to life. Emergency medical technicians reportedly struggled to find a pulse upon their arrival.
The GoFundMe campaign, which set an initial goal of $50,000, has seen an overwhelming response from the community. As of now, it has raised $144,791 through the contributions of 2,200 supporters, nearly tripling the original target.
Beyond his video game roles, Johnson has been the public address announcer for the Washington Capitals for 25 years and has featured in numerous film and television projects. His extensive work with Bethesda includes voicing characters such as Ron Hope in Starfield, Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, three Daedric Princes (Boethiah, Malacath, and Molag Bal) in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among others.
