According to Deadline, Warner Bros.' previously shelved film Coyote vs. Acme might still make it to the big screen, thanks to ongoing negotiations with Los Angeles-based independent film company Ketchup Entertainment. The deal is still in progress, but if finalized, fans can expect a theatrical release in 2026.
Coyote vs. Acme, announced in 2022, is inspired by Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article of the same name. Co-written by James Gunn and featuring Will Forte and John Cena, the film was initially set to premiere on Max in mid-2023. Despite completing production, it was unfortunately shelved, sparking a concerted campaign to save it.
Ketchup Entertainment has a track record of rescuing films from oblivion, most recently with Warner Bros.' The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. This film, which faced a similar fate, was secured for a theatrical release in the US, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas. IGN praised it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."
Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio also includes Hellboy: The Crooked Man and Robert Rodriguez's thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. Additionally, they co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic.
