Fans of The Last of Us were recently left reeling by Neil Druckmann's seemingly definitive statement that a new game was unlikely. However, a flicker of hope has ignited thanks to insider Daniel Richtman, who claims the next installment is not only in development but has already begun filming, with actors already cast.

Considering Druckmann's previous ambiguous statements, Richtman's claims might hold merit. Druckmann's "no next The Last of Us" comment could have referred to a sequel already underway. Furthermore, he's employed similar phrasing before announcements, notably before Part II. However, it's important to note Richtman's track record includes inaccurate leaks.
Despite the uncertainty, the existence of at least a concept for a new The Last of Us game is confirmed. Any official announcements, however, may be delayed to avoid overshadowing Naughty Dog's upcoming new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
