Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed one million copies sold, publisher Kepler Interactive announced.
The debut RPG from developer Sandfall Interactive has doubled its initial sales performance, having previously sold 500,000 units within its first 24 hours.
"Three days after launch, we've reached one million copies sold. Thank you for believing in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," the developer shared on social media.
The game has also achieved a significant milestone on Steam, where SteamDB reports it reached a peak of 121,422 concurrent players over the weekend. This surpasses the concurrent player peaks of other notable Atlus RPGs, including Metaphor: ReFantazio, which launched in October 2024 with a peak of 85,961 players.
Concurrent user records do not capture the full picture, as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is also available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and was included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription at launch. The total number of players over the weekend is likely much higher, indicating strong current popularity.
In IGN's 9/10 review, we called it a "modern RPG classic." The turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive draws inspiration from genre greats. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, players join a crew of Expeditioners on a quest to stop a being called The Paintress, who marks each new year by etching a number and erasing all who are older than it. The journey takes you across the continent to confront her.
