Midnight Society, the gaming studio co-founded by prominent streamer Guy 'Dr. Disrespect' Beahm, has revealed it's shutting down operations and canceling development on its FPS title Deadrop.
Studio Closure After Three Years
The announcement came via a post on X, stating: "After three remarkable years with an exceptional team of over 55 developers, we regret to inform our community that Midnight Society will be closing its doors." The studio included a request for other developers to consider hiring their departing team members.
Founded by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhyo (Halo), Midnight Society had been developing Deadrop as a free-to-play tactical FPS leveraging the team's shooter expertise. Initially targeting a 2024 launch, the project ultimately missed its release window.

Turbulent Development Timeline
The studio severed ties with Beahm in 2024 following the streamer's admission of engaging in inappropriate conversations with a minor via Twitch Whispers. Despite this separation, development on Deadrop continued until the studio's recent closure decision.
Deadrop's distinctive setting envisioned an alternate reality where "the 1980s never ended," featuring characters clad in Daft Punk-esque helmets wielding futuristic weaponry. The gameplay promised a unique blend of PvPvE extraction shooter mechanics.
Industry-Wide Challenges
Midnight Society becomes the latest casualty in an ongoing wave of studio closures and layoffs affecting the games industry, joining major players like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs in facing difficult restructuring decisions.
