Dragon Quest XII: Development Update and Continued Assurance
Series creator Yuji Horii recently provided a reassuring update on the development of Dragon Quest XII during a livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku. He confirmed that the Square Enix team is diligently working on the game, releasing information "little by little."
This marks the first update since May 2024, following the announcement of the passing of key figures in the Dragon Quest franchise. Despite concerns from fans regarding potential cancellation due to Square Enix restructuring and a lack of recent news, Horii's statement confirms the project's ongoing progress.
Announced in 2021 as part of the series' 35th anniversary, Dragon Quest XII will be the first mainline entry since Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age in 2017. The continued development of Dragon Quest XII follows the success of the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, which surpassed Square Enix's sales projections with over 2 million copies sold.
