In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Your journey offers numerous story choices, and companions frequently join you in battle. While they remain at your side, you can occasionally take direct control. These companions are incredibly powerful, often surpassing the Wanderer's capabilities, even with upgrades. Here's how to switch characters:
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Character switching is only possible during battles where you have a companion. Before a battle, in the pre-battle war council, your companion is listed as the final menu option. You can choose to fight alone, but you can't select a companion there. Once the battle starts, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right corner.
Below their health bar is a blue bar, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills as you fight, accumulating energy faster through actions such as:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodging
- Assaulting Officers
- Utilizing Weapon Arts
Most combat actions contribute to filling this bar, albeit at varying speeds.
Once your companion's blue bar is full, a "Change Character" button appears beside it. Press and hold this button for about a second to switch. This is the View button on Xbox, C on PC, or the Touchpad on PlayStation.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching characters mid-battle is strategically advantageous, as companions are exceptionally powerful. However, control is temporary, lasting approximately one minute. The blue bar, which filled to initiate the switch, gradually depletes, indicating the remaining time. Your new character starts with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.
The character switch is dramatic, initiating with a powerful attack. Aim carefully at an enemy when switching. Your companion also possesses a full Musou gauge and health bar, enabling immediate use of their special attack to decimate enemies.
