EA's Skate Game: Microtransactions Launch Early

Author : Owen Update:Mar 14,2025

EA's highly anticipated Skate revival is incorporating microtransactions into its latest alpha test, as reported by Insider Gaming. Developer Full Circle has introduced a virtual currency, San Van Bucks, used to purchase cosmetic items. This move appears to be a test run of the in-game purchase system, with Full Circle aiming for a positive player experience during the early access launch. They've stated that player feedback on this system is crucial.

Importantly, Full Circle has warned alpha testers that all progress will be reset before the early access launch. Any purchases made will be refunded as San Van Bucks, redeemable upon the early access launch.

Skate's early access launch is slated for 2025. Initially announced at EA Play in 2020 as a very early-stage project, Full Circle has maintained consistent communication with the community through closed playtests and updates via their "The Board Room" video series. The game's official title, simply "skate," was revealed in 2022, along with confirmation of its free-to-play status on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
