FromSoftware's latest project, *Elden Ring: Nightreign*, is set to open its test access exclusively to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners. The registration period kicks off on January 10, with testing scheduled for February. This move means a large segment of the fanbase, particularly PC gamers, won't have the chance to experience the game early.
Bandai Namco has kept the rationale behind excluding PC from the initial testing under wraps. However, those fortunate enough to own the specified consoles will get a first taste of the new game well before its official launch.
*Elden Ring: Nightreign* continues the narrative from its predecessor, introducing players to a new, eerie setting while promising fresh gameplay elements. Console players have the exclusive chance to dive into this new world first, while PC users are advised to stay tuned for any announcements on possible future testing opportunities.
A notable change in *Elden Ring: Nightreign* is the removal of the traditional "message leaving" feature seen in previous FromSoftware titles. In an interview, project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, stating, "We disabled the messaging feature because there isn't enough time for sending or reading messages during sessions, which last approximately forty minutes." This adjustment reflects the game's session-based format, where each gameplay session is designed to last around forty minutes, leaving no room for the beloved message system.
