Square Enix has revealed that its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will discontinue support for Windows 10 this October.
The publisher confirmed that support will officially end on October 14, 2025, aligning with Microsoft's cutoff date for security updates and technical assistance.
"While FINAL FANTASY XIV may remain playable on Windows® 10 after support ends," the company noted, "we generally won't be able to address issues caused by the outdated operating system."
Square Enix added that technical support requests related to Windows 10 after the cutoff may receive limited, case-by-case consideration, though assistance cannot be guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the system requirements for Final Fantasy XIV on Windows will also be updated on October 14. The game will now require Windows 11 64-bit instead of Windows 10 64-bit, and CPU specifications are being raised.
Minimum system requirements will shift from an Intel Core i7-7700 (or better) to an Intel Core i5-8400 (or better). Recommended specs, however, will keep the Intel Core i7-9700 as the baseline.
Final Fantasy XIV is currently preparing for the release of patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, scheduled for early August. Following the recent Dawntrail expansion, this update will introduce new Main Scenario Quests exploring the aftermath of the storyline and the mysteries surrounding Solution Nine.
