"There will never be another Back to the Future project," declares the franchise's screenwriter Bob Gale.
The debate reignited after Cobra Kai creators discussed adapting Back to the Future for television. However, Gale maintains the iconic trilogy should remain untouched.
"Why does this keep coming up?" Gale told People magazine. "Do they believe constant repetition will make it happen?"
"Every interview begins with the same questions about sequels, prequels or spinoffs. The answer remains unchanged - never. As director Robert Zemeckis always said, while imperfect, the trilogy reached 'perfect enough' status."

While Gale maintains his stance, Hollywood ultimately holds revival rights. However, executive producer Steven Spielberg shares Gale's perspective.
"Unless corporate conglomerates threaten our families," Gale joked, "we stand firm. Spielberg respects our position, just as he protects E.T. from unnecessary continuations."
Gale previously expressed similar views more bluntly, telling hopeful fans: "When they ask about Back to the Future 4, our response remains 'No thank you.'"
