Even before its official announcement, many observers criticized "Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" for its dated visuals, comparing it to a PlayStation 3-era licensed title or a typical mobile game. Despite the initial negativity, some remained optimistic, hoping it would defy expectations, especially given the lack of compelling "Game of Thrones" games.
Now, thanks to the Steam Next Fest demo, the verdict is in: "Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" is underwhelming. Players have largely panned the game, citing outdated combat, poor graphics, and numerous design choices that strongly suggest a mobile game origin. Many even label it a simple port, though even if not, its visuals are reminiscent of a 2010 release.
While some positive reviews exist on the Steam demo page – often echoing sentiments like "I really enjoyed the demo, looking forward to the full release" – their authenticity is questionable. Whether they represent genuine enthusiasm or are automated, remains unclear.
"Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" is slated for release on PC (Steam) and mobile devices, though a concrete release date is yet to be announced.
