Hope Remains for Gandhi and Other Familiar Faces
An IGN interview with Civ VII lead designer Ed Beach on February 13, 2025, offered a glimmer of hope for Gandhi's return. While not immediately available, Beach suggested his inclusion as DLC is a possibility.
Beach addressed the absence of several established civilizations and leaders, including Great Britain and India, stating that difficult choices had to be made. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," he clarified. The sheer number of popular choices necessitated omitting some to make room for fresh additions. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to have a few fresh ones," Beach explained. He confirmed that while some were left out initially, Firaxis is considering their eventual reintroduction.
Given Civilization VI's extensive DLC history, Gandhi's eventual appearance in Civ VII seems likely, though the precise timeframe remains uncertain.
