A Sci-Fi Setting?
Glauco Longhi, who recently rejoined Santa Monica Studio, revealed on his LinkedIn profile that he's overseeing character development for a currently unannounced project. His previous work includes significant contributions to God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. His LinkedIn profile states he is "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."
This, coupled with Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog's, earlier statement that the studio is working on "a lot of different things," and their recent recruitment drive for a character artist and tools programmer, fuels speculation of a major new undertaking.
Speculation Mounts: A Sci-Fi Adventure?
Rumors suggest a new sci-fi IP, possibly spearheaded by God of War 3's creative director, Stig Asmussen. While Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" adds to the intrigue, no official confirmation exists. Previous whispers of a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio further fuel the ongoing speculation. The puzzle pieces are there, but the complete picture remains elusive.
