How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest becomes available as you progress through the blacksmith Radovan's questline in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After successfully locating the lost cart, report back to Radovan. He'll then reveal his intention to forge a sword as a wedding gift, officially kicking off the Hermit quest. However, before you can meet the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

Begin your journey by visiting the tavern in Troskowitz and engaging with Innkeeper Betty. Make sure to explore all dialogue options. For additional insights, converse with other villagers, such as the alehouse maid and the general trader.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Your next step involves speaking with Gerda in Troskowitz, who claims to have seen the apparition. You can either offer her a few Groschen or succeed in a dialogue check to extract the information you need. Then, proceed to Apollonia and meet Stanislav. Similarly, you'll need to pass a dialogue check or pay him to proceed.

Gather Evidence

Armed with the necessary information, it's time to collect hard evidence. Head to the cross mentioned by Gerda and dig the grave to uncover Groschen, documents, and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross. Remember, you'll need a spade, which you can buy from the general trader in Troskowitz or find for free by searching cemeteries near settlements.

After examining the documents, follow the quest marker to Apollonia, where you'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Investigate the horse for further clues, preparing you to confront the hermit.

Talk to the Hermit

Make your way to the hermit's hut and initiate a conversation. Without the evidence, he won't be forthcoming, but now, he'll be more cooperative. Choose the following dialogue options:

Exhaust all dialogue options about the clues and evidence.
"Out with it!"

The hermit will then confess that he is not Ambrose but Konrad. He'll task you with delivering a cross to a widow named Margaret before he'll surrender the sword. Find Margaret at the cemetery near Apollonia and hand over the cross, which initiates the Sinful Soul quest. You can complete this quest immediately by helping her dig a grave for Ambrose or choose to return to Konrad right away.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Upon returning to the hermit's hut, you'll encounter Crusaders. You can decide to assist them in killing Konrad or help Konrad escape. Sneak to the hut and inform Konrad that you've completed the task. He'll reveal the sword's location. At this juncture, you can either side with Konrad or opt to kill him. In my experience, killing Konrad is simpler, especially with Mutt and the Crusaders' assistance. After defeating him, speak with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for a reward in Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

Finally, venture north of the hermit's hut to locate two tangled oak trees. The hermit's sword will be embedded in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
