Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Author : Noah Update:Mar 22,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a successful build hinges on securing a solid one. While you begin with basic equipment, the game progressively unlocks opportunities to acquire weapons perfectly aligned with your preferred playstyle.

Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to gear acquisition. Here's your guide to obtaining new weapons:

Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

Hyper Light Breaker Weapon Locations

Exploring Overgrowths is your primary method for discovering new gear. While exploring naturally yields rewards, focusing on sword or pistol icons on the map guarantees finding Blades (melee weapons) and Rails (ranged weapons) respectively. Blades offer distinct movesets and abilities, while Rails showcase diverse functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold representing the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons boast superior stats.

To save any discovered weapon for later use, press the Cache button instead of equipping it directly. This stores the weapon in your personal stash, allowing you to equip it before your next run from the loadout screen.

Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Hyper Light Breaker Starting Weapon Merchants

Beyond finding weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting gear from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires gathering sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants maintain limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. If you don't find what you need immediately, check back later for new offerings.

Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade your weapons at the Outpost merchants, but first, you must unlock the upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a rare resource found through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations wisely, as they are difficult to obtain.

Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under their icons) each time you die, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
