"Infinity Nikki Update 1.5 Sparks Uninstall Threats Over Controversial Changes"

Author : Alexis Update:May 04,2025

The eagerly awaited Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have finally arrived on Steam, but they've brought a storm of controversy with them. Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure transitioned to Valve's digital storefront after months of exclusivity on the Epic Game Store. However, what should have been a joyous occasion for fans has been overshadowed by a series of technical issues, unexpected design changes, and stringent outfit requirements. In response, the developers have issued an apology and promised compensation, yet the struggle over Infinity Nikki is far from resolved.

Me after waiting for the update to come out, only to see the state of things…

.reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; }The excitement of Infinity Nikki PC players turned to frustration upon the Steam release as they encountered numerous technical problems, including game crashes and general instability. While such issues at launch are not uncommon, the community's grievances extend beyond performance. The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each comprising 11 pieces, has sparked outrage due to the significant time (up to 220 pulls) and money required to complete them. This unexpected increase in piece requirements has raised concerns about future outfit demands.

In another unexpected move, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, causing further confusion among players. Amid these technical troubles and perceived aggressive monetization tactics, the Chinese player base mobilized on the social media platform RedNote, leading to a global movement. Players worldwide are now calling for a boycott of Infinity Nikki on Steam, encouraging negative reviews and uninstallation across all platforms.

Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players.““What I am reminding people of is a decent amount of Chinese IN stylists pledging to not spend/pull on the banners to send a message to the digital income trackers for the game,” Reddit user kiaxxl said in a call-to-action post published earlier today. “For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players.”

The community's response has been impactful, reflected in the game's current "Mixed" rating on Steam, where players have left negative reviews cautioning potential new players to steer clear until their concerns are addressed.

The boycott gained enough traction that Infold issued an apology letter across its official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improvements in communication about future adjustments.

“Thank you again for your support,” Infold’s message reads. “We know we still have shortcomings, but it’s because of your companionship that Nikki can keep pushing the boundaries of imagination. Please give us another chance to let Nikki’s starlight continue shining for all of us, ensuring our sincerity never fades.”

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

The apology included commitments to revert the Mira Crown event to end on May 16 and start the next season on the same day, alongside compensation in the form of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While these steps are positive, they fall short of the comprehensive changes some players hoped for.

While some view Infold’s concessions as a victory, others remain wary, particularly about the decision to maintain the 11-piece requirement for new outfits. Despite promises of better communication, it appears that some five-star outfits will continue to demand this high piece count.

I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

Despite the ongoing concerns, Infinity Nikki stylists are celebrating the swift response to their collective action, though it's not the complete resolution they sought. The call now is for the community to maintain pressure on Infold.

“Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will be 11 pieces,” Reddit user EdensAsmr said. “Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will not cut it.”
