On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire Interactive, the developers behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), took to the game's official Bluesky account to announce the delay. The team cited a disappointing closed beta as the reason for pushing the release to an unspecified date later in 2025.

"We’ve decided to postpone the launch of Killing Floor 3 to a later date in 2025. After analyzing feedback from our recent closed beta, we recognize that we fell short of our goals. We aim not only to push the franchise forward but also to preserve the core experience that fans love," Tripwire stated in their Bluesky post. They assured fans that the team is diligently working to resolve critical issues identified during the beta, including "performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel."

The gaming community has been vocal on social media about their dissatisfaction with the beta build, describing it as "insanely clunky and clumsy," and an "unpolished, glitch-ridden, vomit-inducing wreck." On the game's subreddit, a user named Captain_Pugman expressed his frustration, stating, "At what point did you forget what made Killing Floor special? Because right now, Killing Floor 3 looks like it’s trying to be everything except the one thing it should be: a Killing Floor game." Many players felt that the game had strayed too far from its horror roots, embracing a futuristic sci-fi theme instead, and were unhappy with the character and class selection being locked during the beta.

Pre-Orders Will Be Refunded Automatically Except For Steam

In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro provided clarity on the status of digital pre-orders on the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums. He explained that once the delay is officially updated across all platforms, the refund process will commence.

For users on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store, pre-orders will be automatically canceled and refunded. However, PlayStation users in the United States have the option to either cancel their pre-order for a refund or retain it for the new release date. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the pre-order will automatically be canceled and refunded.

Steam users, however, will need to manually request a refund by canceling their pre-order and submitting a refund request through Steam's support system. Those who pre-ordered through other third-party platforms and vendors will need to follow the respective refund policies of those services.
