"Marvel Rivals Developer Open to Nintendo Switch 2 Release"

Author : Christopher Update:Mar 26,2025

The widely popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals is experiencing tremendous success on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. However, its developer, NetEase, has been firm that it will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch, leaving fans of the platform out in the cold. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?

During the recent DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the chance to ask Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the possibility of a Switch 2 release. Fortunately for Nintendo enthusiasts, a Switch 2 version seems to be on the table.

As Wu explained, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that. The reason why we didn't launch it onto the Switch was that the first generation of that device couldn't provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we're open to that."

PlayThe Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced just last month. While specifics about its capabilities are still under wraps, it promises to be a more powerful and larger version of the beloved Nintendo Switch. One exciting feature appears to be a mouse-like controller functionality, which could enhance the experience of playing shooters like Marvel Rivals, making it more akin to a PC experience. However, the exact implementation of this feature remains to be seen.

The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't have a confirmed release date yet, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms and has received positive feedback. In our 8/10 review, we noted that it "may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the game as the latest heroes on February 21.
