Marvel Rivals has made a significant U-turn on their latest update concerning player rank resets following a wave of fan complaints. Dive into the details to discover the upcoming changes and developments in the game.
Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
Marvel Rivals has reversed their previous plans for player rank resets after receiving feedback from the community. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account shared a new update on their seasonal rank adjustments, retracting their earlier proposal.
This decision comes in the wake of fan backlash after the release of Dev Talk 10, which introduced a system where players' ranks would reset and drop down four divisions. The community expressed concerns that such a system would be discouraging, particularly for those striving to climb the ranks, as the update indicated that rank resets would occur every 45 days or mid-season.
In response, the latest Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, end-of-season rank resets will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.
Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, other exciting updates are still on track. The much-anticipated addition of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is moving forward, expanding the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games had previously announced that the game would introduce two new playable characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged, with those achieving these ranks post-update receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards at the end of the season for those reaching Gold rank will include another free costume, and Crests of Honor for those at Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments were mentioned to follow the mid-season update, specific details on these changes have yet to be disclosed.
Marvel Rivals Community Support
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, Marvel Rivals addressed the concerns and released Dev Talk 11.
The developers emphasized their dedication to making Marvel Rivals the best it can be, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The upcoming Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news by visiting our Marvel Rivals page.
