NetEase Games has revealed exciting details about Marvel Rivals Season 3.5, introducing Blade along with significant gameplay additions arriving on August 8. The announcement follows the recent launch of Season 3: The Abyss Awakens and highlights the studio's commitment to a rapid content delivery schedule.
Blade Makes His Playable Debut Alongside New Team-Ups
After appearing in-game as an NPC since Season 1, the legendary Daywalker finally becomes a playable character. Blade joins the roster as a Duelist, utilizing his signature shotgun and Ancestral Sword for deadly mid-to-close-range combat. His ultimate ability – unleashing the devastating Sword of Dracula – lets him slice through enemy teams with brutal efficiency.
NetEase's official lore introduction explains: "Born between light and darkness, Eric Brooks embraced his destiny as the ultimate vampire hunter. Though once defeated by Dracula, he now awakens under Shuri's leadership to battle Hela and Knull's darkness threatening all existence."
Season 3.5 also introduces two new team-up abilities while retiring others:
- Duality Dance: Adam Warlock + Luna Snow
- Vibrant Vitality: Mantis + Groot/Loki
Existing team-ups expand with Iron Fist (Chilling Assault), Star-Lord (Rocket Network), and Blade (Lunar Force).
Community Improvements and Competitive Updates
The August update introduces "Operation: Shield the Community," featuring:
- Customizable text chat filters for muting specific words
- Enhanced voice chat monitoring (active since July 24)
- Tougher penalties for ranked match leavers including:
- Extended competitive bans
- Increased rank point deductions
- Compensation for affected teammates
Later in August (22nd), the new Resource Rumble mode arrives alongside the Throne of Knull map. This experimental mode will debut in Quick Match before potentially expanding to Competitive play.
NetEase continues delivering on its promise of bimonthly seasonal updates while incorporating player feedback through frequent patches. Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 launches next week – stay tuned for full patch notes.
