Mask Around: The Sequel to the Bizarre Mask Up
Mask Around, the sequel to 2020's quirky roguelike platformer Mask Up, is now available on Google Play. This time, prepare for a blend of run-and-gun action and close-quarters brawling. The signature yellow ooze returns, but with some surprising new twists.
For those unfamiliar with the original, Mask Up was a unique game where players evolved from a simple puddle of yellow goo into a powerful, albeit gooey, hero. Mask Around builds upon this foundation, adding 2D shooting mechanics to the mix. Players can seamlessly switch between ranged combat and melee brawling, utilizing their goo abilities strategically.
However, the precious yellow ooze remains a limited resource, demanding careful management, especially during challenging boss encounters.
More Than Just Goo
Mask Around represents a significant advancement over its predecessor. While retaining the core gameplay, it significantly expands upon it. Strategic resource management is key, as players must decide when to utilize their ooze abilities and when to rely on their arsenal of weapons. The game also boasts improved visuals.
Currently available on Google Play, an iOS release is yet to be announced. While a direct comparison to the original is difficult without having played Mask Up, Mask Around appears to be a substantial and polished improvement, offering a more strategic and visually appealing experience.
