Lego has unveiled an exciting range of A Minecraft Movie sets that are set to release before the much-anticipated live-action film starring Jack Black. These new sets offer fans a sneak peek into the mobs and characters they can expect to see on the big screen.
As reported by Games Radar, the first two announced sets are the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack. These sets will complement the existing array of regular Minecraft Lego sets but will feature unique figures such as Jack Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's character, The Garbage Man.
The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring set, priced at $49.99 and consisting of 491 pieces, hints at a thrilling gladiator-style battle scene in the movie. It depicts Momoa's character engaged in combat with a zombie mounted on a giant chicken. This unusual pairing raises questions about scale—is it a baby zombie on a regular chicken or a larger-than-life scenario? The set stands approximately twice as tall as The Garbage Man figure. In addition to the combatants, the set includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a gold-filled chest, and a small viewing stand equipped with weapons.
The second set, The Ghast Balloon Village Attack, priced at $69.99 with 555 pieces, indicates that the Nether's iconic Ghast will feature prominently in the film. This set portrays a significant battle occurring in an overworld village, showcasing the Ghast's involvement. It includes a village minifigure, two piglins, Steve, characters named Natalie and Dawn, and an iron golem, suggesting a diverse cast of characters and mobs.
Both sets will be available starting March 1, just a month before A Minecraft Movie premieres in theaters on April 4. This gives fans ample time to get their hands on these new sets and enhance their anticipation for the film.
The movie itself faced immediate fan criticism upon its September reveal, primarily due to the contrast between the live-action characters and the animated world generated by green screen technology. In response, one fan even recreated the trailer in a fully animated format. In an interview with IGN in November, the film's director and producer acknowledged the backlash but assured fans that they were "ready for everything," indicating a confident approach to addressing these concerns.
