Monster Hunter Wilds Eliminates Gender-Locked Armor: Fashion Hunting Evolves
The long-standing gender restrictions on armor sets in Monster Hunter are finally a thing of the past! Capcom announced during a Gamescom developer stream that Monster Hunter Wilds will allow players of any gender to wear any armor set.
The End of Gendered Armor: A Victory for Fashion Hunters
For years, Monster Hunter players have been limited by gender-specific armor designs, hindering their ability to create the perfect aesthetic. This limitation is now gone. A Capcom developer confirmed, "In previous Monster Hunter games, male and female armor were separate. In Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s no more male and female armor. All characters can wear any gear."
The news was met with overwhelming excitement from the community, particularly among "fashion hunters" who prioritize appearance. The ability to mix and match previously inaccessible armor pieces opens up a world of creative possibilities. No longer will players be restricted from wearing a desired set simply because of their character's gender.
Imagine the frustration of wanting that Rathian skirt as a male hunter, or the Daimyo Hermitaur set as a female hunter, only to find it unavailable. This limitation, coupled with often-stereotypical designs (bulky for male, revealing for female), is now completely removed.
This change also addresses past issues. Monster Hunter: World's gender change system required paid vouchers after the initial free one, forcing players to pay real money to achieve their desired look. This issue is likely resolved in Wilds.
The highly anticipated "layered armor" system, likely returning in Wilds, allows players to combine appearances without sacrificing stats, further enhancing customization.
Beyond the armor update, the Gamescom stream revealed two new monsters: Lala Barina and Rey Dau. For more details on Monster Hunter Wilds' new features and creatures, follow the link below!
