This week, Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts were treated to a significant update, which not only introduced the iconic Conan the Barbarian to the fray but also unveiled an unexpected and secret fighter: a ninja clad in pink named Floyd. While some might dismiss Floyd as a mere jest, he is indeed a legitimate addition to the game's roster.
Floyd serves as a walking homage to the legendary rock band Pink Floyd, drawing inspiration from the iconic cover of their album "Dark Side of the Moon," which famously illustrates the dispersion of light into a spectrum of colors. Interestingly, Floyd's fighting style is a compilation of moves borrowed from other well-known ninjas in the game. He can freeze opponents à la Sub-Zero or deploy spears reminiscent of Scorpion's signature attack. Adding to his unique charm, Floyd boasts an impressive 1337 health points.
For long-time fans of the franchise, Floyd's introduction may evoke a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of Reptile's debut in the original Mortal Kombat game. Reptile, too, was a secret fighter whose moveset was a blend of other ninjas', and he was notoriously challenging to defeat.
Currently, the Mortal Kombat community is actively seeking ways to trigger encounters with the elusive pink ninja. Although the appearance of Floyd seems somewhat random, he drops hints about the challenges players must complete. However, a definitive method for unlocking him has yet to be fully confirmed.
