Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the critically acclaimed game Sifu to adapt its compelling narrative into a cinematic experience. Originally announced back in 2022, the film project was initially being developed by Story Kitchen in collaboration with the game's developer, Sloclap. However, recent updates from Deadline reveal that the production team has undergone a significant expansion.

Netflix has enlisted the talents of T.S. Nowlin, celebrated for his contributions to the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay for this much-anticipated film. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, may still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.
The project's allure has attracted top-tier talent, with Chad Stahelski, renowned for directing the John Wick series, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, coming on board as executive producers. Stahelski is also concurrently working on the adaptation of another blockbuster video game, Ghost of Tsushima.
Since its release in 2022, Sifu has captivated audiences worldwide, selling over one million copies within just three weeks of launch. The game follows the journey of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following the murder of their master. Equipped with a mystical pendant that grants resurrection at the cost of aging several years with each death, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
