Hotta Studios' upcoming open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness, is gearing up for its first closed beta test – exclusively in mainland China. While international players won't participate, they can still follow the progress of this highly anticipated title.
Gematsu recently highlighted new lore details, which likely won't surprise those familiar with the game's trailers showcasing the city of Eibon (see below). The revealed lore expands on the game's comedic tone and the blend of fantastical and everyday elements in the world of Hetherau.
Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World (creators of the successful Tower of Fantasy), is entering a competitive market dominated by titles like MiHoYo's Zenless Zone Zero and NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen). However, Neverness to Everness aims to distinguish itself with unique features.
One key differentiator is the inclusion of open-world driving. Players can purchase and customize various vehicles, experiencing realistic driving mechanics with consequences for reckless behavior. The game's blend of action RPG elements and vehicular exploration promises a fresh take on the genre. However, its success will depend on how well it navigates the crowded field of 3D open-world mobile RPGs.
