Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Claims
Following recent claims by Genki, an American accessory maker, Nintendo has officially denied any involvement in their CES 2025 showcase of a purported Nintendo Switch 2 prototype. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's statement confirming the displayed hardware and accompanying images/videos as unofficial and not provided by Nintendo.
Genki, known for its range of gaming and electronics accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting a 3D-printed Switch 2 mockup. They further claimed to possess a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. This is despite Nintendo's own silence on specifics, aside from confirming backwards compatibility with the original Switch. Genki's website even features a dedicated page for prospective Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.
Nintendo's firm denial suggests an imminent official announcement regarding the Switch 2 is likely, given the growing speculation fueled by Genki's actions. The company's only confirmed detail remains the backwards compatibility feature.
