The ESRB has updated the rating for Resident Evil 6, maintaining its Mature 17+ rating but adding the Xbox Series X|S as a new platform. This suggests an upcoming release for current-gen consoles.

Initially released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and remastered in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this new version is expected to also launch on PlayStation 5. While details are scarce, the ESRB listing notably describes the game as "survival horror," unlike previous descriptions labeling it a "third-person shooter." This subtle shift hints at potential differences, though the specifics remain undisclosed. A full announcement is anticipated to clarify these changes.

Beyond this remaster, excitement builds for Resident Evil 9, rumored to be set four years after Resident Evil Village.
