The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a top-tier drive for both your gaming PC and PS5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements, boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and 6,300 MB/s respectively. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This is a DRAM-less drive. For PS5 gaming, this makes absolutely no difference. On PCs, it cleverly uses HMB (host memory buffer), borrowing a tiny amount of system RAM—a difference you won't even notice.
This SSD lacks a pre-installed heatsink. However, its new single-sided design is energy-efficient and produces minimal heat.
