Hollow Knight: Silksong is Still in Development, Confirms Team Cherry
Recent speculation surrounding a cryptic cake-related profile picture change by a Hollow Knight co-creator sent ripples of excitement (and confusion) through the fanbase. However, Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, clarified that the cake was, in fact, a harmless profile picture change and not a cryptic clue to a Silksong announcement. He tweeted, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."
Despite the cake-related misdirection, Griffin provided a much-needed update, confirming that Hollow Knight: Silksong is indeed real, actively progressing, and will eventually be released. This is the first substantial update from the team in over a year and a half, offering a reassuring message to eager fans.
A Six-Year Journey (and Counting)
Initially revealed in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong faced a delay in May 2023. Team Cherry cited the game's significant expansion in scope and their commitment to delivering a polished experience as reasons for the postponement. They previously highlighted Silksong's features, including a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging new difficulty mode called Silk Soul.
The recent confirmation, while welcome, has generated mixed reactions. While some fans express relief and continued support, others express growing impatience after nearly six years of anticipation. The lack of a concrete release date continues to fuel this debate.
Hornet's Epic Journey Awaits
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous quest to the kingdom's peak. While a release window remains unannounced, fans eagerly await further updates and the eventual release of this highly anticipated sequel.
