Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed prior internal consideration of a Smash TV remake and hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.

A recent update for Helldivers 2, including the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, the 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The surprise release of "Omens of Tyranny" at the 2024 Game Awards further contributed to this surge in popularity. The positive player response to these additions, combined with rumors of a Killzone crossover, positions Helldivers 2 for continued success in 2025.
