Recent reports suggest a potential "Summer of Switch 2" in 2025, despite an anticipated April 2025 launch date. This contrasts with Nintendo's continued focus on maximizing sales of the current Switch model.
A "Summer of Switch 2" Next Year?
Developers Eyeing April/May 2025 Launch
Industry whispers place the Switch 2's launch no earlier than April 2025. GamesIndustry.biz podcast host Chris Dring, citing developer sources, stated that developers have been advised to not expect a launch within the current fiscal year (ending March 2025). The hope among developers, according to Dring, is an April or May 2025 release.
This timeline might be strategically designed to avoid a launch conflict with other major releases, such as the anticipated Fall 2025 release of Rockstar Games' GTA 6.
Adding fuel to the speculation fire, journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe hinted at a pre-August 2024 Switch 2 announcement, as reported by BGR. This aligns with Nintendo's stated intention to announce the Switch 2 before the end of its current fiscal year (March 31, 2025). However, official confirmation from Nintendo remains elusive.
