If you've been following us for a while, you're likely familiar with our parent company's event, Pocket Gamer Connects. One of our highlights is the Big Indie Pitch, where we showcase innovative indie games to a panel of judges. Today, we're spotlighting a standout runner-up that caught our attention: the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!
At first glance, Talystro might blend in with the crowd of deckbuilding roguelikes, a genre that's currently thriving. However, a closer look reveals what sets it apart. In Talystro, you step into the shoes of the math mouse, embarking on a quest to overthrow the evil Necrodicer by battling number-based monsters. The game ingeniously combines cards and dice mechanics, challenging you to reach a target number to defeat these numeric foes. Be mindful, though, as you're limited to a certain number of dice rolls per turn.
Crypt of the NecrodicerTalystro boasts a unique blend of rubber hose-style animation and a fantasy aesthetic, reminiscent of those math-focused educational games from your childhood. While it sticks to basic, entry-level mathematics, the gameplay remains captivating and easy to understand at a glance.
Scheduled for release in March, Talystro promises a simple yet challenging gameplay experience that many deckbuilders struggle to achieve. This balance is what we believe will captivate players upon its launch.
While you eagerly await Talystro's arrival, why not explore our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week? It's the perfect way to keep yourself entertained in the meantime!
