Upgrading your weapons in Avowed is crucial for survival. Early game weapons are Common (I), but you'll quickly encounter Level II enemies requiring Fine (II) gear. This guide explains how to obtain Tier II/Fine weapons and armor.
Upgrading from Common (I) to Fine (II):
Some Fine (II) gear can be found or bought, but others require upgrading. Avowed uses a Quality system indicated by descriptors, colors, and Roman numerals. Common (I) gear is green, Fine (II) is blue. Three upgrade levels (+1 to +3) exist between each Quality tier.
To upgrade to Fine (II):
- Locate a Party Camp workbench.
- Upgrade your gear through levels +1 to +3, using the required materials (which vary by gear type).
- After reaching +3, upgrade to Fine (II) using Adra, a rare crystal obtained from quests, merchants, or by dismantling Unique items.
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor:
While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Alternatively, you can find rare Fine (II) gear early in Dawnshore, though this is uncommon. Level II enemies, especially Bounties, may drop Fine (II) equipment. However, Common (I) gear is significantly less effective against Level II foes, so carry ample health potions.
Merchants in Paradis also sell Fine (II) gear. Access to Paradis is granted after defeating the Dreamscourge bear boss in Dawnshore. Two sisters run a shop near the Bounty Board; one sells magical items (grimoires, wands), the other sells standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
This covers the primary methods for acquiring Fine (II) weapons and armor in Avowed.
