WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

Author : Zoe Update:Apr 15,2025

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year, coinciding with the release of a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, with sources citing that the content volume did not justify the proposed price tag. Warner Bros. chose not to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.

This cancellation comes at a time when Warner Bros. is undergoing significant restructuring within its gaming division, driven by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier in the year, the company made the tough decision to cancel its anticipated Wonder Woman game, leading to the closure of Monolith Productions, the studio behind it, as well as WB San Diego and the MultiVersus developer, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs at Rocksteady occurred just last September, highlighting the broader impact of these financial adjustments.

Despite the setback with the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of the Harry Potter franchise and Hogwarts Legacy within its portfolio. The company has publicly stated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is a top priority, reflecting their strategy to focus on fewer but more significant franchises. The original game has achieved remarkable success, selling over 30 million copies, underscoring its value to Warner Bros.
