Three towers comprise the Shadow of the Past quest, each a separate sub-quest:

• Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise: The northeastern tower.
• Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise: The southern tower.
• Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise: The southwestern tower.

Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise

Locate this tower northeast of Thorncrown Rises. Speak to Itzel, positioned east of the tower, to begin. The sub-quest involves navigating the tower's interior, defeating Abyssal Mercators, and solving a painting puzzle.

Steps:

1. Interact with the painting at the hallway's end.
2. Follow the quest marker to the Abyssal Mercator; defeat it and claim the northern Basic Supply chest.
3. Obtain the western Supply chest.
4. Enter the eastern room, then the second painting.
5. Defeat another Abyssal Mercator and collect the Supply chests in the eastern and western rooms.
6. Pursue and defeat a third Abyssal Mercator.
7. Follow the painting behind it.
8. Open the chest to halt the shooting enemies.
9. Defeat the blocking enemy.
10. Solve the painting puzzle (top left to bottom right, painting behind top left to bottom left, top right to top left, painting behind bottom right to top right).
11. Claim the Premium Supply chest.
12. Defeat a final Abyssal Mercator.
13. Speak to Itzel and claim the Tidal Supply chest. This weakens one Command Rise Tower barrier.

4. Defeat the Abyssal Patricius.
5. Claim the Supply chest and follow the quest marker.
6. Defeat the Abyssal Patricius again.
7. Speak to Insula.
8. Collect the Tidal Supply chest.

This weakens the second Command Rise Tower barrier.

Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise

Completing the previous two sub-quests automatically triggers this final part.

Steps:

1. Speak to Insula and Itzel northeast of the Command Rise Tower.
2. Use the Wingray to fly to the tower.
3. Enter the tower and follow the quest marker.
4. Collect the Supply chest west of the moving libraries.
5. Use the Grapple to ascend.
6. Collect the Basic Supply chest and another Supply chest after defeating enemies.
7. Defeat the Abyssal Patricius.
8. Claim the chest and continue climbing using the Grapple.
9. Utilize the chandelier mechanism to reach the tower's summit.
10. Speak to Insula and Itzel after finding Liel.
11. Use the portal to confront the Abyssal Patricius.
12. Obtain the Call of the Abyss Rectifier and a Premium Supply chest.

Exiting via the portal and speaking to Insula and Itzel awards the King of Thessaleo and Shadow of the Tower achievements.
