Microsoft started a concentrated push to bring its first-party games to third-party consoles in February 2024. The first four Xbox games to go multi-platform were Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves, in that order. Some market watchers also count As Dusk Falls in this group, because while the 2022 adventure game wasn't developed by a Microsoft subsidiary, it was originally published by Xbox Game Studios and spent 20 months as an Xbox console exclusive. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 joined the list of Microsoft's games available on non-Xbox platforms in October 2024, whereas Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will follow suit in spring 2025, when it's scheduled to land on the PS5.

Microsoft's multi-platform push may soon expand to include one of the biggest Xbox franchises, Halo, according to NateTheHate. During the January 10 episode of his podcast, the long-time leaker reported that he "heard" that Halo: Master Chief Collection will be ported to both the PS5 and the Switch 2. The new versions of the six-game bundle are reportedly planned to launch sometime in 2025, as per the same source.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Also Reportedly Coming to PS5 and Switch 2

NateTheHate also said that Microsoft Flight Simulator is likely to follow suit. While the insider didn't specify which installment will supposedly go multi-platform, it's plausible he was referring to the latest entry in the series, MFS 2024, which hit the market on November 19. Similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, NateTheHate suggested that the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise will be making the jump to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles at some point in 2025.

'Way More' Xbox Games Are Reportedly Going Multi-Platform in 2025

This report was corroborated by another long-time Microsoft leaker, Jez Corden, who recently took to Twitter to claim that "way more" Xbox games will be coming to the PS5 and Switch 2. This assertion aligns with Corden's belief that the era of permanent Xbox console exclusives is already over—a sentiment he frequently reiterated in recent months.

Another Microsoft series that's all but certain to expand to more platforms in the near future is Call of Duty. While trying to push the Activision Blizzard deal over the finish line, Microsoft signed a deal committing to bringing Call of Duty games to Nintendo consoles for ten years, as originally announced in late 2022. The agreement has yet to produce any Switch games, possibly because Microsoft is waiting for Nintendo to release the Switch 2, which is expected to be significantly more powerful and better suited for modern military shooters with realistic art styles than its predecessor.
