Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

Pokémon TCG Pocket: No Immediate Competitive Plans

The Pokémon Company has confirmed it currently has no plans to integrate Pokémon TCG Pocket into its competitive esports circuit. This was revealed by Chris Brown, Director of eSports, in a recent interview. While the company continuously explores new titles for competitive play, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't on the immediate horizon. This was humorously juxtaposed with the previously released (and fictional) Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament.

Reasons for Exclusion (Speculation):

While no official reasons have been given, several factors are likely contributing to the decision. Pokémon TCG Pocket is relatively new, having launched only in October 2024. With only a few months under its belt and a limited number of card sets released, the game is still in its early development stages. Although in-app competitive features exist, ongoing balance issues remain a concern for players. Furthermore, Pokémon TCG Pocket's simplified mechanics, designed for a broader, more casual audience, may not align perfectly with the demands of a competitive scene.

The Pokémon Competitive Circuit remains robust, featuring Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all culminating in the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.

Upcoming Pokémon Presents:

The upcoming Pokémon Presents livestream, scheduled for February 27, 2025, could potentially reveal a new card set for Pokémon TCG Pocket. While the exact content remains undisclosed, fans anticipate significant announcements. This event might also shed light on other projects, including the long-awaited Pokémon Legends: Z-A and newly announced mega evolutions.
