"Marvel Rivals Dev: No PvE Mode Planned Yet"

Author : Lucy Update:Apr 19,2025

Despite being a relatively new game, *Marvel Rivals* has already captured the imagination of its player base, sparking rumors of exciting new features. One such rumor involved the addition of a PvE boss fight, hinting at a potential PvE mode. However, NetEase has recently set the record straight, stating that there are no plans for a PvE mode...yet.

At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the possibility of a PvE mode. Wu shared the following:

"For now, we don't have any kind of a PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. So if we find that a new specific game mode is entertaining enough and fun enough, we would, of course, bring it to our audience."

Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if I wanted a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals. After affirming my interest, Wu elaborated:

"Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience that would like the PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, that will be totally a different distinctive experience from what we have right now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, maybe a lighter mode, in a lighter sense of that, and to see what would work best for our game."

From this, it appears that while there are no solid plans for a PvE mode in *Marvel Rivals* at the moment, Wu hinted at the possibility of introducing a "lighter" game mode, potentially as a one-off event or something similar. NetEase remains tight-lipped on further details.

*Marvel Rivals* continues to evolve, with monthly updates bringing new characters to the roster. The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the game on February 21. We also discussed with Wu and Koo the prospects of a Nintendo Switch 2 release for *Marvel Rivals*, which you can explore in more detail [ttpp]. Additionally, we addressed the intriguing topic of whether NetEase might be trolling dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the game's code.
