Hextech Chests Are Coming Back

Riot Games has listened to the community's voice and is set to reintroduce Hextech Chests. In a developer update posted on their website on February 27, 2025, and complemented by a video on their YouTube channel, Riot acknowledged that recent changes didn't quite meet fan expectations. They stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

The decision to bring back Hextech Chests stems from the understanding that these chests were more than just a way to acquire items; they were crucial to making players' time in League feel rewarding. Riot admitted, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, players will be able to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable via the Honor system.

Exalted Morderkaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes

In addition to the Hextech Chests, Riot Games announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin. The team wants to ensure it fully embodies its core fantasy, and as a result, the entire Exalted skin line will be pushed back, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act as initially planned.

Responding to more fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing the community's concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the overrepresentation of champions in seasonal themes.

To enhance player accessibility, Riot is also lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05, following discussions about blue essence and champion shards.

Another reversal involves Clash. Initially planned to be less frequent, Riot has decided to reinstate Clash's monthly schedule, with March's event featuring ARURF and a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns

Responding to popular demand, Riot will bring back the fan-favorite Your Shop and Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop is slated for patch 25.06, while the Emporium will return in 25.07.

Riot Games emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
