Russian Checkers (8x8): Rules

Movement and Capture:

• White moves first.
• Pieces move only on dark squares.
• Captures are mandatory if available.
• Captures are allowed forward and backward.
• Kings move and capture diagonally to any square.
• The Turkish strike rule applies (only one opponent's piece can be captured per move).
• Multiple capture options allow for any choice (not necessarily the longest).
• Pieces reaching the opponent's end become kings and can immediately use king moves if possible.

Draw Conditions:

• A player with three (or more) kings and checkers against a single opponent's king, who fails to capture within 15 moves (starting from force balance).
• In king-only endgames, no change in force balance (no captures or king promotions) for: 30 moves in 4-5 piece endings, 60 moves in 6-7 piece endings.
• A player with three pieces (kings or checkers) against one opponent's king on the "high road" unable to capture within 5 moves.
• 15 consecutive moves involving only kings, without moving ordinary pieces or capturing.
• Repetition of the same position three (or more) times with the same player to move.

International Checkers (10x10): Rules

Movement and Capture:

• White moves first.
• Pieces move only on dark squares.
• Captures are mandatory if available.
• Captures are allowed forward and backward.
• Kings move and capture diagonally to any square.
• The Turkish strike rule applies (only one opponent's piece can be captured per move).
• The majority rule applies (capture the largest number of pieces if multiple options exist).
• A simple piece reaching the opponent's end during a capture continues the capture as an ordinary piece (doesn't automatically become a king).
• A simple piece reaching the opponent's end by a move (or during a capture) becomes a king and stops; king moves are available on the next turn.
