2025 Alienware Aurora 16, 16X Gaming Laptops Now Available

Earlier this month, Alienware unveiled its new lineup of 2025 gaming laptops, introducing the "Alienware Aurora" series. The initial 16" models are now available for purchase at Dell. The Alienware Aurora 16, the more budget-friendly option, comes equipped with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU and a GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with an 85W TGP, priced at $1,949.99. On the other hand, the Alienware Aurora 16X, the premium model, boasts an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with a 115W TGP, and is priced at $2,299.99. Both models are set to start shipping in mid-June. Additionally, both the Aurora 16 and 16X offer the option to be upgraded with RTX 5060 graphics, though these are currently available for preorder with no specific shipping date, as the RTX 5060 has not yet been released.

The Aurora 16 is more compact and lighter due to its efficient components, including a low-voltage Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and an RTX 5070 GPU with an 85W TGP. In contrast, the Aurora 16X is slightly thicker and heavier to accommodate enhanced cooling, offering a more powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 HX series processor and an RTX 5070 GPU with a higher 115W TGP.

These laptops are notably more affordable than the new Alienware Area-51, which starts at over $3,000, and are much easier to travel with, being up to 1.6 pounds lighter and up to 30% thinner than a comparable Area-51 16" laptop. Given the current trends, with Nvidia GPU prices expected to rise (as per Tom's Hardware), significant price drops are unlikely in the near future.
