Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam
News of Assassin's Creed Shadows' first downloadable content (DLC), titled "Claws of Awaji," has reportedly surfaced via a now-removed Steam update, according to Insider Gaming. The leak reveals a substantial expansion adding a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities, extending gameplay by over 10 hours. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.
This leak follows the recent delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows to March 20, 2025. Originally slated for November 15, 2024, the game was first pushed back to February 14, 2025, and then again to its current release date. The delays, attributed to polishing and refining the game experience, add to the already turbulent development cycle of this highly anticipated title.
Set in 16th-century feudal Japan, Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the franchise's debut in East Asia. Players will control dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi, as they navigate a period of intense conflict. Despite significant anticipation, the game has faced challenges, including criticism surrounding its protagonist choices and multiple delays.
The timing of this leak, following the latest delay announcement, adds another layer of complexity to the game's launch. Ubisoft, the game's publisher, is also navigating uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. This follows a period of mixed reception for several of its major releases.
