Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, a decision that arrives ironically during the legendary icon's 45th anniversary year. This version of the game, which debuted over a decade ago and was previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, has offered players more than just classic arcade vibes.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued as of April 1st, 2024. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day on May 30th, 2025.

The community has voiced significant disappointment over Bandai Namco's decision to shut down the game entirely, rather than offering an offline version. Many fans feel that an offline mode would have been a satisfactory compromise, potentially still generating revenue for the company.

PAC-MAN Mobile not only retained the iconic 8-bit arcade mode but also introduced a Story Mode featuring numerous original mazes. Additionally, the game included an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, offering players the chance to earn exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode added weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

Over the past few years, PAC-MAN Mobile has faced numerous challenges, with bugs and issues accumulating. This likely played a significant role in the decision to shut down the game. Reflecting on the initial years after its launch on Android, the excitement was palpable as players competed for high scores and aimed to top the leaderboards, making it a truly engaging experience at the time.

If you're eager to play PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
