For years, Bloodborne fans have passionately called for a remastered version of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this fervent speculation.
Instagram Posts Ignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Update
Bloodborne, a critically lauded RPG released in 2015, enjoys immense popularity. Many players eagerly await the chance to revisit the gothic city of Yharnam on current-generation consoles. While no official announcement exists, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts showcasing the game have ignited a fresh wave of excitement.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images featuring the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image depicted Djura, a seasoned hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others showcased the player Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the eerie Charnel Lane graveyards.
While these posts might simply be a nostalgic nod to the past, Bloodborne enthusiasts on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously examining every detail, searching for clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, especially with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, feels particularly suggestive.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to share their favorite locations in Yharnam. The comments section overflowed with pleas for a Bloodborne return to modern platforms, including PC.
The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues – Almost a Decade On
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a dedicated following, earning widespread critical acclaim and ranking among the greatest video games ever created. Despite its success, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans often cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, the lengthy wait for that remake casts a shadow of concern. With Bloodborne's tenth anniversary approaching, the anticipation for a remastered version is reaching fever pitch.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki hinted at the advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware, acknowledging the increased accessibility it would offer.
While Miyazaki's comments offer a spark of hope, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, Bloodborne's publishing rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated that he cannot comment on the game's future due to FromSoftware not owning the IP.
Bloodborne's passionate fanbase continues to yearn for a remake or remaster. Despite its critical and commercial success, Sony hasn't yet expanded its availability beyond the PS4. Only time will reveal whether the current speculation will materialize into reality.
