Securing your shelter in the zombie-infested world of Project Zomboid requires more than just finding a suitable location; it demands robust defenses. This guide focuses on a fundamental yet effective method: barricading windows.
How to Barricade Windows in Project Zomboid
To effectively board up a window, you'll need specific materials: a wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once gathered, simply right-click the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window supports up to four planks for enhanced protection.
Resource locations are fairly intuitive: hammers and nails are commonly found in toolboxes, garages, sheds, and closets. Wooden planks are frequently discovered at construction sites, or as a last resort, can be salvaged by dismantling wooden furniture (shelves, chairs, etc.). Administrators can utilize the "/additem" command for item spawning.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie access. The more planks installed, the greater the resistance. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove." Note that you'll require a claw hammer or crowbar for this action.
Larger furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators) are ineffective as window barriers; characters and zombies will pass through them. However, understanding furniture manipulation remains crucial for interior arrangement.
While wooden planks offer a basic defense, more advanced barricades using metal bars or sheets are achievable with sufficient Metalworking skill.
